Honoring the Land and People

Services

Education

Our approach to education emphasizes participatory learning and action (PLA) as a way to bring out the knowledge learned through experience and perspective within the group. We tailor courses to your needs. Rainwater harvesting in crowded spaces, trainer of trainer courses with local leaders, regenerative project management with your staff. Share your desired outcome and we will connect our network experts.

  • Always our favorite option. This gives a more holistic approach to learning allowing natural conversation and integration within the local environmental context. In-person courses will emphasize learning through doing.

  • Our online courses emphasize break-out sessions for more in-depth conversation and encourage external practice of concepts learned in the course. This format works well for theory-based learning, base conceptual, and those desiring flexible scheduling. As with all of our education practices, we integrate PLA into online formats creating a unique learning environment.

  • Hybrid options combine the capacity of online flexible scheduling with a deep understanding of in-person knowledge share.

Design

Our approach to design integrates holistic systems design founded in science with an extensive focus on our ethics to honor the land and people for generations. This emphasis is founded on the reciprocity approach of First Nations wisdom.

  • Tests and observations of environmental, community, and systemic factors. This includes and is not limited to soil testing, precipitation metrics, site-specific solar factors, watershed, regional geology, climate change factors, existing and planned infrastructure and assets, and management capacity.

When possible a Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) is done. PRA is an assessment and learning approach that emphasizes communal knowledge to assume an active role in analyzing their living conditions, problems, and potential to seek a change in their situation.

  • Our designs provide a detailed overview of how to mitigate existing challenges and create regenerative systems that meet the needs of your long-term goals while planning for agile adjustments as the system grows. These plans include a final visual design, planting details, and system schematics. Further details are provided based on your desired outcome as established in the assessment phase.

Two iterations of the design will be shared, creating space for dialogue with you on desired changes before the final design is shared.

  • Our installation services take the mapped design and turn it into a reality on the ground. This process is done alongside stakeholders who will interact with the physical space, making minor adjustments as needed.

Sustainability Consultation

Our approach seeks to meet UN climate goals integrating the 100-year plan into strategic planning, disaster preparedness, and detailed solutions to site-specific challenges related to climate, ecosystem restoration, and post-conflict restoration.

  • We work with you in establishing holistic strategic plans and project designs that go beyond UN climate goals and integrate regenerative approaches throughout.

We also assist in disaster preparedness planning for the local context.

  • We work together to find locally appropriate solutions to specific challenges affecting your farm and community.
